If you are considering getting an ice machine, it is most likely that you are a restaurant or eatery owner and are looking to add some variety to your customers’ drinks. Ice comes in an assortment of shapes and types, so you would need to decide which ones you want before purchasing a machine.
So there are three main types of ice:
1. Cube ice
- This is the most common form of ice. Most restaurants use this and yes, even I have cube ice at home. So this isn’t really anything to shout of design-wise but did you know that there are actually various shapes of cube ice too? Cube ice comes in full cubes, half cubes, gourmet, contoured ones and of course in the usually rectangular shape.
- Cube ice is good because they do not melt fast and fills a glass better, which translates into some savings as you do not have to use much drink to fill the glass and to the customers, they’d get a cooler drink.
- Use cube ice if you serve a lot of carbonated drinks or mixed Drinks or you are into ice dispensing and retailing.
2. Gourmet cube
- Gourmet cubes usually have shapes that look like a small shot glass or a top hat. These not only look good, they are also handy for filling up glasses and prevent clumping due to their size. These ice also do not melt fast and you are able to scoop them easily as well.
- This type of ice is perfect for gourmet and mixed drinks as they look pretty and classy. You can opt for this gourmet cubes if you intend it for use at bars, banquet services, upscale restaurants and waitress stations.
3. Contour cube
- Contour cube ice are pillow shaped and are most suitable for food service applications. They are clear as crystal and are patented and hard. The unique design prevents splashing as liquid will flow over the shape easily and smoothly.
- This type of ice is most suitable for ice displays, mixed drinks, salad bars, carbonated drinks, ice retailing and ice dispensing.
Knowing the advantages and usage of each type of ice, you can then be able to make a decision on the type of ice machine that you need for your business. Always have the customers in mind when you make your decision; think about what they want and expect. Also, think about the image that you are trying to portray for your eatery.
With wedding planning being so complex it is sometimes easy to overlook the wedding favors and many couples will abandon them completely as an unnecessary cost on their budget. But favors are a traditional part of any wedding and most guests will expect them. The good news is even if your budget is tight you will be able to find something you can afford and give as a token of thanks to your guests.
When choosing wedding favors it is important to pick something which not only matches your wedding style and/or theme but which shows a little of your own personality too. When you begin looking it is a good idea to know how many you need to buy, have some idea of what you are looking for and how much you are prepared to spend per favor including the packaging.
Every bride will want her wedding favors to be unique to her wedding, however this is only really possible by the way in which you present and package them. Personalizing your favors can make them unique to your wedding but is often an additional expense. Cheap wedding favors to personalize include wedding matches, mint tins and chocolates.
Here are five more unique wedding favors ideas to consider:
Make your own scented sachets using scraps of fabric and scented fillings like lavender seeds or rose buds. You could also embroider your names and wedding date onto them.
Photographic favors are always unique. Rather than using a picture of the two of you, why not take a photograph of your wedding venue at a particular time of day or write the word thank you on the ground in a novel way – for instance using pebbles on the beach. You can insert your photographs into coasters, mats, key fobs or fridge magnets.
Edibles are always crowd pleasers so why not make your own cookies or cupcakes. Alternatively try your hand at making chocolates or other confectionary such as fudge. Present them in pretty glass jars or tins.
Give your guests a copy of your favorite recipe accompanied by a small kitchen tool used in its creation. Lemonade recipes accompanied by glass pitchers or lemon presses are popular versions of this.
hire a photograph booth at your reception, similar to those used for passport photographs and give your guests one or two tokens with which they can have their pictures taken. They will get a fun shot of themselves in their wedding finery and you will have achieved wedding favors which are unique to every guest!

I’ve been looking for a long time now and I can’t find what I’m looking for.
I’m trying to make ONE (1) custom made shot glass. It would probably have to be hand painted because it is a 360 degree design, but everyone I have found will only make it in mass production. And I only need one. Does anyone have any advice?
maybe you could just buy a shot glass…then get the design painted on?
I want to give an LA Clippers shot glass as a gift. Where in Los Angeles can I find it basically near the Glendale and Pasadena area. Some thing like this http://images.bizrate.com/resize?sq=140&… Where can I find it in a store, I don’t want to buy it online.
Go to a mall and look in the sports stores. You’re bound to find one there.
Everyone would like to own fairly good glassware. It is important to have formal glassware for special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas or Thanksgiving. There are many things to keep in mind when seeking to purchase these items. These few tips can help you shop wisely and pick the best glassware for your home and personal taste.
The first tip is to never purchase the most expensive glassware or the cheapest glassware. The cheapest glassware is just cheap enough to not survive an unruly child or a clumsy houseguest. However, the most expensive glassware is of the same quality as the middle-priced glassware, only more expensive because of a fancy, high-end brand name that may be on the box. Always purchase glassware that is of high-quality and priced in the middle to get your money’s worth.
The second tip is to beware of the design on your glassware. Some glassware designs are made to be placed in china cabinets, others are made for everyday use. Be careful when choosing your glassware that it is functional and appropriate for the purpose in which you plan to use it.
The third tip is to beware the size of your glassware. Whether it be glassware cups, bowls, or espresso cups, be sure to keep in mind those who plan to use them and those you plan to serve with this glassware. If they are adults, than a larger cup would be appropriate. If they are children, then smaller bowls that will accomodate smaller hands will be more appropriate.
Lastly, keep in mind when purchasing glassware that you can truly never have enough or have enough of a variety to match your needs. There is stemware, tumblers, goblets, mugs, wine glasses, tankards, tea cups, sake cups, shot glasses, chalice glasses, etc. The list goes on and on and all of them have an occassion and a function. Enjoy your options and know that you can never have enough.
Now that you have the knowledge needed to choose quality glassware, you can start your journey. You can practically purchase these prized jewels anywhere. If you really want to make them fancy, they can even be personalized with any little message or saying you wish to put on them. You can put your full last name on them or even your family initials or crest. They make lovely gifts for all holidays and all people can appreciate and be grateful for high-quality glassware.
So, if you are wondering where you can purchase middle-priced, right-sized, right-designed glassware, you can simply type the word “glassware” into your favorite internet search engine or just hop in your car and cruise the major department stores in your city and you will be sure to find some glassware that meets your requirements and can be used to entertain at your next big soiree.
Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be able to shop for glassware like a seasoned professional. Remember, you can never have enough glassware and the list of places to find it are virtually endless. No matter when you decide to invest in your glassware, it will be the glassware of your dreams. About the Author
